Picture Frames

This is a picture frame my mom found at Tai Pan trading. I spray painted it black, added the window decal and put scrapbook paper behind it. I love how it turned out.

This is the same frame different decal and paper.

The first is an old frame I've had for some time. I saw the an Idea on Pinterest (if you don't have a pinterest board, I highly recommend it). I wasn't sure how it would turn out but I was surprisingly pleased. The second is another frame (I believe I got it at a garage sale), scrapbook paper, vinyl lettering and a spindle my brother made. I am completely happy with ow it turned out. I also got the idea from Pinterest.

Notebooks for Volleyball Girls

Yes, this post is a little late but I thought I would share some pictures of the notebooks I made for the volleyball team this year. We gave them the notebook and pen during the Volleyball banquet. I loved putting the notebooks together. I was able to use some paper I got from JoAnn's, in some packets. I didn't have to cut to much off, because the paper was 4" x 6". I loved not having not to waste too much paper.

Answering some questions

The other day I was reading through my comments and I came across a comment that asked me a question, and I did not read it until months later. So here's the answer to your question Heather.

The ribbon flowers are just a wide ribbon loosely stitched on on side and gathered. As you pull the thread it will gather the ribbon for you and you tie it when the ends meet with each other.

They are so easy and fun to make.

My fabric flowers are a piece of fabric cut into a circle, then you fold the edge over (just a little) and loosely stitch along the outside of the circle, gather them together and tie it off. This is what they call a yo yo.

I hope that answered your questions.

Another question was from my cousin and she wanted to know what rolled oats are and in my Cowboy cookie recipe I just use what ever oatmeal I have on hand. But I am going to do some research and see if I can find a more specific answer.

Cowboy Cookies

Recipe: Cowboy Cookies

4 cups flour

2 tsp soda

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

4 cups rolled oats

2 cups shortening

2 cups sugar

2 cups brown sugar

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

2 cups chocolate chips

Cream shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Stir in chips. Bake at 350* for 15 min (could shorten time if your oven is hotter than normal).

This is a very easy recipe and it does not take long to get them stirred up. I love it.

I covered these four notebooks for the girls who helped line judge at our tri match volleyball games. I had them tell me their favorite color, then I went from there. I really like how they turned out.

Last of the Card Exchange

Here are my last two sets of cards for the exchange. We did Christmas cards and Family cards. For the Christmas cards, I used the Jolliest time of the Year stamp set from Stampin' Up. I love this stamp set. I also stamped the saying a piece of twill ribbon. In some places it turned out but it's still a little light in others.

For the family card I used the Tres Chic background stamp and stamped it in Baja breeze. I used some glitter paint that I got from a scrapbook store to highlight "family" and some of the swirls. It turned out better than I thought.

"Thanksgiving"

I usually don't make Thanksgiving cards but it was for the exchange group I am part of. I used the Bright Blessings roller from Stampin' Up. I thought they turned out kind of cute. At least I was happy with them.

Corner Bookmark

On Splitcoaststampers the other day they had a tutorial for this bookmark. So, I decided to make one. It was so easy. You start with a 4"x4" piece of paper. Then you mark the middle of three (3) sides. Line up the middles and score diagonally. Then you fold over the edges. You will then cut a 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" square, cut it in half diagonally. You can use one triangle to decorate the front and the other is used on the back to hold the folded flaps together and give it a stronger back so it stays on the page better. Then you decorate the front of it the way you want to. I am planning on doing this project for the August Stampin' Up party. This will be the make and take object. Still trying to decide on my other project. Instructions can be found on splitcoaststampers.com, then search for tutorials and corner bookmark. The author of the tutorial is Beate Johns (thanks for sharing this great project).

Tiles and Picture Frames

Below are two tiles I made after my mom found this really cute saying. There's a skeleton key tied behind the bow. I really like the way they turned out. Out of the the two, the black tile is my favorite. But then again, I really like black!! The picture frames have letters on them from vinyl and behind each letter is a different piece of paper. On the "M" picture frame there are some rub ons. I really like the rub ons on the frame, it gives it a little something extra, since this frame is pretty simple. Here are some closer pictures of the letters. You can kind of see the detail on a few of the frames.

Birthday Cards

These are the birthday cards I created for the card exchange. My mom was really busy so I made her set of cards for her. I had fun putting them together. I like the Cheers to You card because it's not your typical pink and ruffly girly card. My little sister said she liked it because not every girl is completely girly girl.

Some of the fun non wilting flowers

I created these yellow flowers the same time I made all the others. I decided to put all three together. I loved how it turned out. I also like how the yellow stands out against the rusty vase. I placed the flowers on a shelf with a yellow plate from my Great Grandmother. I love the yellow against the black. I also love how Raggedy Ann looks next to the flowers (thanks Mom for leaving her downstairs).

The shelf above was originally red, but the black makes it look much better.

These projects are some I made up for the Open house I am having in June. I thought it might be fun to do something for the home, and since Independence Day will only be about a month away, what a great project.

The mini clothes pin can be used as a book mark or magnet, all you'd have to do is attach a magnet on the back.

The jumbo paper clip is a great book mark.

More non-wilting flowers

Just some more non-wilting flowers. I found some cute but simple ribbon at Wal-Mart and decided to make some flowers. I am going to take these flowers up to the restaurant to try and sell. We'll see how well they do. I really like a lot of the flower combinations. It's fun to see those colors together.

I LOVE CHOCOLATE & PEANUT BUTTER

My mom found a recipe for Rolo cookies. We decided to try something different than rolos, we put Reese's Peanut Butter cups in them. YUMMY!!!!! The recipe is also really easy.

Recipe:

1 box chocolate cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 c. oil

Mix together. Form into balls, press rolo or PB cup into the center and cover up. Bake at 350* for 9 minutes.
Makes about 2 dozen cookies, if you make the cookie small.

Results from Saturday's Stampin' Up Party

Well, those who came to the party did a great job making their flowers. Here's a picture of every one's together.

Rhonda made this set, look at her pink ribbon flower, she put a bell in the middle (how creative).

This one was made by Robbin. I love her color combinations. Janica and Avory made these two. Avory's is the one with three green flowers. I love Janica's purple yo yo flower with the pink button.

This one was made by Stacey. She has some great colors and I love that she used six flowers.

I had so much fun with those who came. I love getting together and making things with these ladies. They are truly amazing and they teach me so much. I just hope I am teaching them!!

"For You" Card

The Make and take card for the Hostess club on Saturday, May 15th is a simple card but something in which it can be used for almost any occasion. I used the Medallion stamp and stamped it in Dusty Durango. Cut a piece of Real Red 1/2" x 4 1/4" then I cut a piece of Thoroughly Modern 1/4" x 4 1/4" and placed it on top of the Real Red strip. "For You" is from the Vintage Labels and I stamped it in Soft Suede then I used the Curly Label punch and punched it out.

It's a very simple but great card.

Flowers that won't wilt

I hate it when you get a great bouquet of flowers and a few days later they have wilted. Not any more. With a variety of ribbon, fabric, and paper you can create a long lasting flower bouquet.

I used an old bed spring as the vase, put some floral foam inside and covered it with floral moss. The stems of the flowers are wire and I stuck each flower into the foam. I tied a piece of ribbon around the foam to help hide it and hold the moss in.

Two flowers are made from paper. I made the lollipop flower and glued the wire to the back. Two flowers are from ribbon and the last is a yo yo flower from some scrap fabric.

I really enjoyed making the flowers and putting this together. I am going to have it as a project for the Hostess club coming up on Saturday, May 15th.

Father's Day cards for exchange

I am part of a card exchange and the category for May's exchange is "Father's Day". So I sat down a few minutes ago and finished my Father's Day cards.
I used Naturals Ivory card stock for the card and the Top Note Die. I stamped the Medallion Stamp on the Top Note die and cut it in half. The pattern paper is from the Pattern Paper 2 and 3 (hostess gift). I inked the edges of everything in Soft Suede and stamped One of a Kind in Soft Suede. All products except the buttons are from Stampin' Up.

"Reminder" Notebook

My Mom and I decided this year was the year to make a "life style" change. Instead of calling it a diet, it's a life style change. The word diet scares me and makes me feel like I have to give up all the yummy food I really love.
We decided to meet with a few people once a month and talk about healthy living, yummy new foods, and then we will take a walk. The notebook above is the one I created to keep my information. I went with a retro beach theme to help remind me of why I am going through this life style change. I got the paper at a local scrapbook store, I love it. It's from Graphics 45, called the Boardwalk Collection.

A closer picture of the front of my notebook. I cut up on of the 12 x 12 papers into all the smaller pieces and picked two to glue on the front. I used the Big Shot from Stampin' Up and the Top Note bigz die.

I love the way my notebook turned out. The retro beach theme is a great way to remind me of the goal I am trying to reach.

Candy Bar birthday and Hostess Thank you

I covered a large Symphony candy bar with a piece of Shades of Spring paper from Stampin' Up. I used the new builder wheels from the Summer Mini Catalog (Happy Birthday).

This little box I made from Acetate paper. I made the box for a hostess to thank her for hosting a party. I used the Shades of Spring designer paper to cover the box.

April Hostess projects

For the Hotess party we are making a recipe card for the make and take. The recipe is from my brother (who made up the recipe in Home Ec. class his Senior year of high school). It's a great milkshake recipe. I love it because you can make it any flavor you want. I really want my hostesses to enjoy their party, so to make it worth while for them, I had them fill out a survey and according to their answers I decide what to do as the make and take and my extra project. This month I chose the recipe card because the hostess does not like to make greeting cards.

For the extra project, we are making a covered binder clip, covered magnet, and jumbo paper clip. For all the projects I used the Throughly Modern paper and Rose Red ink. On the Recipe card I also used kraft cardstock and the top note die cut for the Big Shot.

I Love Black Spray Paint!!!

I just love how spray paint makes old items look new again. I have been spray painting a few items I have around my living room black. I love the way they have turned out. First picture is of a metal vase, originally silver (which I liked) but I changed it to black. I love how it looks now.

Then I have this shelf I bought in November of last year at a Craft fair. I loved the red but I did not have anything red in my room, so I took it down and look at it now!!!

March Hostess Project

The Milk Carton box is a project I picked out for March's Hostess club. I thought it would be fun and also a cute way to make something for Easter, instead of the everyday Easter basket. You could easily put chocolates inside and give it to someone special. I used the new roller from Stampin' Up, Very Vintage and inked it with Soft Suede. I inked the edges with Close to Cocoa and added the circle flower. I like that it is simple but very cute.
The card below is for a Party that is coming up soon. I used the Vintage Vogue stamp set from Stampin' Up. The cardstock is Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Kraft, and Whisper White. I also added lace. The card I saw actually made the lace from paper but I choose to use real lace. This card was really simple, it took me five minutes to make, I love easy cards. So I thought I would do this for the party because it was so easy to make.

Flowers, Flowers, Flowers

As the weather is slowly starting to change, I cannot help but think about the beautiful spring and summer colors. So, I decided that to help make it spring and summer faster around my home, I made a bunch of flowers from paper, ribbon, and an old pair of jeans. I am going to be offering the Hostess club an opportunity to learn to make these flowers. I think it will be lots of fun and it will help the hostess club ladies to create beautiful and one of a kind works.

Cards for Card exchange

This is a "congrats" card for a card exchange I am involved in. I used the square template for the cuttle bug and inked it with not quiet navy. I used the All About U stamp set, the U is stamped in Summer Sun and then I embossed it with clear embossing powder.

This card was for the Easter exchange. I normally don't send out Easter cards, but saw this cute Lamb idea on Split Coast Stampers and decided to give it a try. I used the scalloped circle punch for the body, the 1" circle punch for the head, the hair is a flower from a Cricut cartridge and the ears and feet are from flower petals from a Cricut cartridge. It was a little time consuming to make but after I figured it out, it does not take to long to make.

Drawer Ribbon holders

These are two old dresser drawers we found. My mom and I washed them to prep for spray paint. After all the drawers were spray painted and completely dried, I used mod podge for the scrapbook paper on the inside. I put the handles back on, we drilled holes on the sides for the dowels, and put all of our ribbon on the dowels. The ribbon fits great and I love the fact that I can see all the ribbon I have without searching through boxes. When drilling holes for the dowels be sure to measure the diameter of the spool other wise the spools will not spin. My mom found the idea from another blog, Blue Cricket Designs. Thanks for the great idea, it helped us get organized and it's a great way to display all the fun ribbon you own.

Gift Box

This is the bread box I decided to do for Hostess club this month. I found the pattern off Snippets of Paper blog. She used hers at Christmas time, but this box would work for any type of gift. The view above is an angled view.

Full front view of the box. I used Chocolate chip card stock as the base and the Sending Love Speciality Paper from Stampin' Up's Occasions Mini Catalog. I love this paper.

I just loved the box after I seen it and decided I had to create it. I could not believe how easy it was to make. So, anything easy to make and turns out this cute = a keeper!

The bread inside is Lion House's Pumpkin Bread, but any type of bread would work.

Vintage Valentine Blocks

This block has four different vintage valentines. I just decided to show this side.

The blocks here are made with vintage valentine paper I bought at Keepsake Cottage in Burley. I love going into that scrapbook store to see what's new. I made these blocks hoping they would sell but if they don't, that's fine with me because I would love to have them in my house.

This will be the card for February's Stampin' Up hostess party. It's a really easy fun card to make. From start to finish it took me about 10 minutes to make.

Birthday Cards

This Birthday Card is made with Pick a Petal stamp set and Cottage Wall designer paper series.

This birthday card is made with the Medallion Stamp, "Happy Birthday" comes from the Block Party stamp set and the green and yellow ribbon is from Stampin' Up, the brown ribbon is from a craft store.

Here's the ribbon flower I made. The lady bug is made from Pick a Petal stamp set (the wings are a petal), two circles; the larger circle is the 1 3/8" punch and the smaller circle is 3/4" punch. I just hand cut the antenna's. I like the simple design and it was a lot of fun to make.

Ribbon Flower

This is the flower I made after I received my Success book from Stampin' Up. I loved the way their flower turned out and thought I should give it a try. I used the Riding Hood Red grosgrain ribbon with the white strip running down the middle. The leaves of the flower are from Pick a Petal and I used the Old Olive classic stamp pad. I had so much fun making the flower and it was really easy.

Motivation for my Volleyball Girls

I am the JV Volleyball coach and last Saturday we had our tournament. For every game we do motivation, which is just something for the girls to have fun with and get their teammates pumped up for the game. As the coach I did the tournament because it was the last couple games of the season. The mummies are snickers and I wrapped gauze around them after I glued on googly eyes. The label says "Let's 'wrap' up a great season and send them crying home to their 'mummies." I really enjoyed making the mummies and also had a great season, the girls pulled off two big wins to be conference champs.

3x3 Boxes & Note cards

These are the cards that go in one of the boxes. I used coordinating paper for the cards and box. I used Rainbow Sherbet for these cards. I love the blue, green, and orange combo.

For the other set of cards I used the Fall Flowers designers series paper.

October's Stampin' Up project

Thanks to Giddy Greetings Quilling, I got this cute Mummy Card idea. I thought this would be a fast, fun little card to make for Halloween. I put my together in about 10 or 15 minutes, after getting everything rounded up. I added the scalloped tag to give the card a little something extra and I also added more ink to the strips of paper to give them an aged effect, I was going for old bandage look.

Just got done picking all the tomatoes from the garden and boy oh boy, where there a lot. We (meaning my Mom and myself) picked and picked until we were blue in the face. This was the first year I really had done anything with a garden, and we planted 15 tomatoe plants and ever since they started producing tomatoes, we've been eating them. It's a great thing my grandparents love tomatoes or we would be throwing so many out. I hope I have this much luck next year so I can make salsa and chili sauce.

My recipe books, which I had to make to hold the 6 x 6 recipes. I was part of an exchange group a couple years ago. I went with the Hawaiian theme because I want to decorate my kitchen in retro 50's and thought Hawaiian would work great because of Elvis' movies ;)

The first two pictures are of my Dessert recipe. I went with the pink and brown and also found some really cute cupcake paper, with glitter. Nothing better than glittered paper.

These recipes are from the exchange group I am part of and fit in the recipe boxes that I posted pictures of the other day.

I enjoy scrapbooking my reicpes because it gives the recipes a unique feel and is fun to show off your talents. I will post more of the scrapbook recipes as I finish them.

Today is my first official day as a blogger. I normally do not read a lot of blogs but have used them for ideas. My blog will be everything from Paper crafts to motivational ideas I use for coaching a JV volleyball team to things that go on through my life. I am excited and cannot wait to get this going. I hope everyone enjoys reading what I have to say and what I have created.
